IEC 61499 is a domain-specific paradigm for designing truly distributed control systems. This intermediate course is a hands-on introduction to HMI and SCADA development in EcoStruxure Automation Expert, built around a single worked example: a water heating tank. Eleven lessons take you from the Composite Automation Type (CAT) function block through canvas configuration, faceplates and instance initialisation, to testing the finished application on a Soft PLC.
All lessons are free and hosted on YouTube. No account required.
